Rest of the World
The Life and Times
David Richard Organ
It has taken Dave many years to research his family tree and to gather together the information needed to create this publication. The real theme of this book is to access a window into the past and to take a look at village life and the activities of one man during the troubled times of the 1920's when the Forest of Dean miners and indeed the whole of the mining communities of the United Kingdom were in such turmoil.
A completely different subject matter to that of Gyros is this latest
book from the pen of Dave Organ.
Published by Apex Publications - 56 pages - A4 format - perfect bound.
Dave describes his experiences as a youngster growing up in a small
but close-knit coal mining community in the Forest of Dean,
Gloucestershire, England at a time when World War II was just over and dad worked in the pit, mum kept home and where chapel, Sunday school and shopping at the Co-op were all part and parcel of normal village life.
Dave's grandfather David Richard Organ became President of the Forest of Dean Miners' Association in 1920 and was recognised as having a special passion for fighting for the rights of the miners to a decent living wage and safe working conditions.
